WINTER-SPRING THEATRE REGISTRATION is OPEN!
JOIN US FOR CAMP DURING THE TEACHERS’ STRIKE
STARTING JANUARY 14
Starting Monday, January 14, Village Arts is offering a fun, engaging program for your kids during the strike! The program was created by Village Arts teacher Jeanne Simpson and comedian, Joe Furey.
THE PROGRAM: From 9AM – 2PM kids will have a fun, fully immersive day into the world of COMEDY. Starting off with playful improv and theater games, then learning how to do classic spit takes, prat falls as well as creating and drawing original cartoon characters. They will also watch several Looney Tunes Cartoons, silent short films (Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton), and classic comedy short films featuring Abbot and Costello, the Three Stooges, Marx Brothers, and Laurel and Hardy. We will analyze these films together and talk about what was funny in those films. Finally the kids will break into small groups and write and perform their own comedy sketches in the style of some of the films they have seen. Each day will be a little different so you can drop in one day or attend the whole week.
